Please be kind to this world!

Not knowing what to write? Not even knowing what I can write? But I started typing, and the words fell.

Utter silence is the most accurate description of this New Year. The bustling traffic, the firecrackers that ushered in the old year, the warm spring breeze—all of that is completely irrelevant to this New Year. Why is this? Where does the root of all evil lie?

Yes, you guessed it, it's the virus. Perhaps you don't know what a virus is? It's a noun, not a verb. This invisible, intangible, yet dangerous factor that can harm humanity. Tracing its origins, where did it come from? How did it spread to humans? Current research can only confirm that it's a wild animal that people have completely ignored—the bat.

This New Year is different from others. What makes it different? I saw a joke from a netizen: "One sleeping fox caused billions of people across the country to be doing postpartum confinement at home." Although it's a joke, it's indeed the most accurate description of this New Year. In previous years, the New Year was a time of family celebration, eating hot pot together, watching the Spring Festival Gala; this year, it's just a simple meal followed by a focus on the progress of the novel coronavirus. The streets used to be bustling with people and laughter; this New Year, a few scattered figures on the road, even if you exchange a glance, you wouldn't know if it's someone you know.

Neighbors talk to each other from rooftops, blind dates contact each other via mobile phone, hospital workers and village leaders are fully equipped and awaiting orders. Even more heartbreaking is that some doctors and nurses volunteered to go to the front lines, just to do their best to help the world. They risked their lives, they gave up time with their families, just to do their utmost to snatch innocent lives from the clutches of death.

Why did all this happen? It's our own problem. Because of our indiscriminate hunting of wild animals, we have contracted viruses from them and spread them to the world. As one netizen said, "If we defeat this virus, please let wild animals go!"

World, please, please be kind in your treatment of certain animals! Perhaps your unintentional kindness will be your greatest reward. This virus tells us: this is a lesson we should learn, and it has also led to China's unity and cohesion being witnessed by the world.
