Dialogue with the Soul

Night deepens, only the gentle breeze caresses the curtains. I sit alone under the lamp, raising my weary eyes, searching for my soul.

  — Prologue

Me: Soul, where are you? Can you hear my call?

Soul: I am here, I know you have come, but are you still?

Me: I am still, I can even hear my own heartbeat.

Soul: I can only exist in silence. In the clamor, you cannot see me; in the restlessness, you cannot see me either.

Me: I know, although I am very tired, my heart is at peace.

Soul: Listen, time is ticking away, slipping away little by little. Are you anxious?

Me: I am not anxious, but I am worried. Society is changing rapidly, I am afraid that if I slack off even slightly, I will fall behind the crowd.

Soul: The so-called falling behind is just your feeling. In the bustling sea of people, who are you comparing yourself to? Are you comparing yourself to those in front, behind, to your left, or to your right? In fact, life has many longitudes and latitudes, the key is where you place yourself, your positioning is really important. Blindness is the root cause of impatience.

Me: I don't have time to think much; I can only follow step by step.

Soul: So, your hurried pace has caused you to lose me. Tonight, thankfully, you still remembered me.

Me: Of course I'll remember you; I really can't live without you. Without you, I find myself so empty, so powerless. In the crowd, I'm so easily hurt, constantly bumping into things. Although nothing serious happens, the accumulation of these injuries builds a thick callus on my heart, and I can no longer find its softness, its authenticity. Soul

: So, you should slow down and wait for me. Only when you keep pace with me will you slowly feel: time is peaceful and serene, life is beautiful and tranquil.

Me: I know, but sometimes, I don't know what happens; I just lose you as I walk.

Soul: Give yourself more time alone, give yourself more time to think, and suddenly, when you look back, you'll find yourself in the dim light. Even though you are drowned out by too much noise, as long as you guard your heart and uphold your principles, I will still be by your side.

I cannot lose you again. I have heard it said: true peace is not about avoiding the hustle and bustle, but about cultivating tranquility within your heart. I also know that true peace comes from within; a restless heart, whether secluded in the mountains or hidden in an ancient temple, cannot find peace. Now, I can only strive to cultivate myself, to learn to be calm and composed. Only in this way can I find comfort and joy in life by relying on you.

Soul: Yes, life is a performance of the best union of soul and body. As long as you don't leave me behind, I will accompany you in this performance, creating joy and happiness in life.
